Skip the pricey movie theater concessions, grab a lawn chair, a pair of swimming trunks, or some sci-fi attire and catch one of these family favorites at unique locations across Northwest Arkansas.

August 2nd

The 1977 classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind is showing on Thursday, August 2nd at 8:30PM in the North Lawn at Crystal Bridges! This is the second film in the outdoor movie series at the museum.

Synopsis: After an accidental encounter with otherworldly vessels, an ordinary man follows a series of psychic clues to the first scheduled meeting between representatives of Earth and visitors from the cosmos.

August 3rd

The Fayetteville Parks and Rec department presents Grease on Friday, August 3rd at 8:45PM on the Gazebo Lawn at Gulley Park. Concessions are made available on-site, including adult beverages! Bring a lounge chair or blanket for the full experience.

Synopsis: Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?

August 3rd

Up north at Lawrence Plaza, Bentonville Parks and Rec will be showing the family-friendly, Cars 3 at 8:30PM as part of their First Friday Flix series. Don’t forget the popcorn and a fold-able chair!

Synopsis: Lightning McQueen sets out to prove to a new generation of racers that he’s still the best race car in the world.

August 9th

The sci-fi film journey continues at Crystal Bridges alongside the backdrop of the Fly’s Eye Dome on Thursday, August 9th at 8:30PM with the 1982 classic, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial! They are encouraging patrons to decorate their bike with light and head to the Fly’s Eye Dome via the Crystal Bridges Trail.

Synopsis: A troubled child summons the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his home world.

August 10th

A dive-in movie for the kids! The Jones Center in Springdale is showing Moana on Friday, August 10th at 6PM. Moana and water!? The little ones are sure to love this one!

Synopsis: In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches Moana’s island, she answers the Ocean’s call to seek out the Demigod to set things right.

August 10th

Another dive-in is taking place at the Siloam Springs Family Aquatic Center later that same evening! Coco will be showing on Friday, August 10th at 9PM. Technically, the adventurous should be able to make both Moana and Coco! Synopsis: Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family’s ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.

August 10th

If you are looking to stay dry, Hook will be showing at the Downtown Rogers Farmers Market at 8:30PM! What would the world be without Captain Hook?

Synopsis: When Captain Hook kidnaps his children, an adult Peter Pan must return to Neverland and reclaim his youthful spirit in order to challenge his old enemy.

August 17th

On Friday, August 17th at 8PM join Springdale Parks and Recreation on the splash pad at C.L. “Charlie” & Willie George Park for Finding Nemo! Gates at the Aquatic Center will open at 7:30. Movies begin at dusk. Please bring chairs to the movies at the splash pad.

Synopsis: After his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home.
