First Bike City in the U.S.

Fayetteville has been awarded the designation of Bike City by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world governing body of cycling.

The first city in the United States to be given a Bike City label by UCI, Fayetteville joins cities and regions around the world, such as Copenhagen and Paris, that have previously received the designation due to their commitment of developing cycling at all levels, from elite competition to the use of bikes for leisure and as a means of transportation.

Bike Match NWA

Northwest Arkansas has joined the national bike match movement thanks to BikeNWA—connecting individuals who have bikes to donate with those who need bikes.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Bike Match to Northwest Arkansas during these perilous times. Now more than ever, having access to transportation is critical to fulfilling basic human needs. By matching people with bikes to individuals who need bikes, we look forward to providing a critical niche in providing transportation access. For individuals who are looking for a bike or have a running bike to donate, please check out #BikeMatchNWA,” shares Paxton Roberts, Executive Director of BikeNWA.

Since this is a peer-to-peer matching service for individual bikes, if you represent a group or an organization that needs a fleet of bikes or have ones to donate, be sure and reach out to Pedal-It-Forward NWA. For years, they have done an incredible job of handing out thousands of bikes a year across the region to groups and community organizations.
