Northwest Arkansas has aspirations to become recognized as one of the most generous regions in the United States.

The region’s philanthropic commitment is second to none. Volunteer opportunities span interests that include everything from supporting the success of  Northwest Arkansas children to ensuring that community parks and lakes are void of litter.

Education is essential to obtaining and keeping a job with a livable wage and health benefits. An income sufficient to pay for daily necessities and save for the future provides families with financial stability and a sense of hope. Access to quality health care keeps children on track in school and adults productive at work. Remove any of these building blocks and the other two are certain to topple.

United Way Northwest Arkansas partners with more than 100 area nonprofits, and it’s a great resource for finding volunteer opportunities. United Way focuses on initiatives such as education, income, and health.

Impact Northwest Arkansas, an initiative of the Northwest Arkansas Council, is designed to share and amplify cause-related stories and opportunities generated by local groups making a positive impact on the region.

NWA Gives is an annual region-wide giving event where changemakers across the region come together to fund the nonprofit work and important local causes of hundreds of participating local nonprofits.

In 2018, nearly 200 nonprofits and the Northwest Arkansas community came together for 12 hours of epic giving and raised a little over $715,000.

When I moved to Northwest Arkansas in 2013 I knew no one and was very unfamiliar with the area. I started volunteering with United Way of Northwest Arkansas and quickly had so many doors open... I have met so many incredible people from all different sectors and backgrounds, and have had the opportunity to really see what the heart of Northwest Arkansas, and its community members, looks like.
