Scoot over a little bit, Hollywood. At least two feature films are currently in production in Northwest Arkansas at the moment.
As we mentioned on Monday, one called “Sovereign” starring Nick Offerman and Dennis Quaid has been shooting in Fayetteville this week. Since then, a second film by “Greater” filmmaker David L. Hunt called “In Fortune’s Shadow” has been spotted filming in downtown Rogers in the last few days.
We wrote about “In Fortune’s Shadow” a few weeks ago, but didn’t have any information on the cast for the film at the time. According to reports this week, however, actors Michael Rooker (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Theo Rossi (“Sons of Anarchy”) will star in the film.
Ads posted online seeking stand-in actors for the film also feature images of the two actors. IMDB also indicates Leonard Wu has been cast.
“In Fortune’s Shadow” is part of a planned series called “The Underneath” created by David L. Hunt, whose credits also include “Living Dark: The Story of Ted the Caver,” and “High Noon.”
Hunt is probably best known for his work on “Greater,” the 2016 film based on the life on former Arkansas Razorback football player Brandon Burlsworth, a former walk-on for the team who went on to become an All-American before his tragic death just days after being drafted to play in the NFL. “Greater” was also filmed in and around Fayetteville.
“In Fortune’s Shadow” is an action film being described as “John Wick meets The Matrix” or “It’s a Wonderful Life with Guns.”

Hitman Nate is given just three days to find the mythical Keyser Soze figure known as The Man with the Answers or face the ultimate consequence. Along the way, Nate finds the task isn’t what he was told and The Man isn’t what he seems.
According to the casting ads for the film, production in Northwest Arkansas will continue through March 16.
